Daniel makes panel

Corporal Daniel Rowney from 1st Bluestone has been included in this season's Mid-Ulster U18 Select squad, for the annual football match against their Scottish counterparts.

The Tandragee Rovers and Lurgan Battalion goal-keeper will feature in this representative match at Mourneview Park on Saturday, April 10.

TWO boys achieved full marks at this year's battalion-based, Northern Ireland BB scripture exam.

The twelve passage syllabus, resulted in a slightly different format to the assessment stage with the inclusion of multiple choice and a crossword section.

In the U14 test, 1st Bluestone recorded good results to finish ahead of 1st Waringstown and 1st Moira, whilst the senior exam, saw Captain Joe Lyon's 1st Waringstown boys receive the Fred Sands Shield, followed by Captain John Garvin's 1st Moira members and 1st Bluestone.

Two boys, Timothy Hancock from 1st Waringstown and Allister McCord from 1st Bluestone recorded maximum marks, for the first time in the history of the battalion assessments.

Northern Ireland BB Cup

The draw has been made for this season's NI Inter-Battalion U14 cup competition, with the local side in section A along with Portadown and Down.

Matches have to be played by April 24, and all captains have already received trials nomination forms.
