The Charity supports groups working with disadvantaged children and young people across the UK, and hopes to increase its presence in the local area with the meeting.

The information session will be held from 11am–1pm on Friday, April 7 at the Burnavon Arts & Cultural Centre, Cookstown, where BBC Children in Need staff will welcome potential applicants, and be on hand to talk through ideas and proposals for funding support.

BBC Children in Need already funds around 200 projects in towns and villages across Northern Ireland with over £9million hard at work to help disadvantaged children and young people.

BBC Children in Need supports projects that work with disadvantaged children and young people aged 18 years and under living in the UK affected by illness, distress, abuse, or neglect, behavioural or psychological difficulties, disabled children and young people and those living in poverty or situations of deprivation.

One local example of funding in action is Mid Ulster Women’s Aid which receives a grant of £106,830, over three years, to provide individual and group support sessions to children and young people who have been affected by domestic violence.

The funding from BBC Children in Need provides the salary of two family support workers, along with basic programme and activity costs, travel and training costs.

Projects who would like to attend are asked to email dominic.o’[email protected] or alternatively call 028 9033 8221.
