BDO advisor gets passport to international tax

The Assistant Manager with BDO has become only the second person in Ireland, and the first from Londonderry, ever to pass the Advanced Diploma in International Tax (ADIT). In addition, Suzanne was awarded The Worshipful Company of Tax Advisers medal out performing 235 candidates from 25 different countries to be placed first in paper 3.

The ADIT is the main qualification for international tax specialists. The Diploma was introduced in 2003 by the Chartered Institute of Taxation to meet the needs of international tax practitioners working with corporate clients. The exam consists of three examinations and includes principles of international taxation, international aspects of the UK tax system and European tax regimes.

After receiving news of her success Suzanne said: “I am delighted to have been awarded the Advanced Diploma in International Taxation. An increasing amount of the work we do for clients crosses national borders. Since joining BDO I have worked with Northern Ireland-based clients doing business in places as far away as Brazil, China, India and Australia.

“As Northern Ireland works to become an export-focused economy, with a strong presence internationally, it is important that business advisory firms like BDO understand the tax regimes where companies operate. The qualification means we can offer clients an unparalleled service in this area,” she added.
