Beaten with bat

Shortly after 4pm it was reported to police two men had approached a man in his 30s at Brownlow Terrace and assaulted him.

Initial enquiries suggest at least one of the men was armed with a bat and that a blue saloon car was used to make their escape.

The man was taken to hospital with injuries to his neck and head which were understood to be serious, but not life-threatening.
