Beauty business backs cancer charity

STAFF at Beauty and Beyond in Ballyclare held their sixth annual charity day in aid of Macmillan Cancer Support recently.

All proceeds from treatments and procedures carried out on the day were donated to the charity, and the fundraising total was boosted further through raffles and generous donations.

Business owner Laura Kennedy lost her mum to cancer in 2006 and since then has raised both awareness and lots of money to support Macmillan.

Laura commented: “Due to the economic climate, people don’t have as much money to spend but the loyal customers of Beauty and Beyond, the staff (giving their time for free) as well as local businesses donated very generously.

“The fantastic total of £1,485.00 was raised and I would like to say a huge thank you to all who contributed. I would especially like to thank Gail Conway, Andy’s Stores, The Wardrobe, McCandless Opticians, Antrim Forum, Spirelle, Jackie Neil, Studio 51, Loughshore Cafe, Physiofit, Bonita and Michelle Ferguson.”

Maria McGleenon from Macmillan Cancer Support added: “Macmillan receives no government funding and therefore relies solely on the generosity and support of people like Laura, her staff and customers to provide our vital services. All money raised within Northern Ireland will stay in Northern Ireland and be used to support local services.”
