Became abusive to police officers

As police were dealing with an incident in Lurgan a 44-year-old man became abusive to them and assaulted an officer.

Pearse Magee, Richmount Gardens, Lurgan, appeared last Friday at Craigavon Magistrates Court. He admitted disorderly behaviour and assault on a constable on October 12 this year.

The court heard that at almost midnight police were dealing with a disturbance involving around 20 people in North Street, Lurgan.

As they were speaking with a female Pearse came along and was abusive to police. Pushing past an officer he continued to shout abuse and made a grabbing motion towards a constable.

District Judge Benita Boyd adjourned sentencing until December 18 for a pre-sentence report.
