Bed push for charity

UPPER Bann MP David Simpson is planning a constituency-wide bed push on behalf of the Mandeville Cancer Unit at Craigavon Area Hospital.

Announcing the event planned for September 7 and 8, David Simpson said: “I have been a regular visitor to the Mandeville Unit at Craigavon Hospital and been a keen supporter of the magnificent work that staff do and the wonderful care they provide.

“This bed push has been planned in order to raise funds for a therapy chair for the Mandeville Unit.

“I am pleased that many of my Assembly and Council colleagues along with other staff and local members will be joining me for all or part of the event that will cover the three towns, Banbridge, Lurgan and Portadown as well as many of the local villages in Upper Bann.”

“I did a similar event a little while ago in aid of the Help for Heroes charity where we completed a sponsored walk right across the entire constituency.

“At that event the people of Upper Bann demonstrated once again just how generous they are. I have no doubt that even in such testing economic times as this that they will show their support for the Mandeville Cancer Unit.

“I am very grateful to some local companies who have already agreed to sponsor this event and I hope that we can raise enough to get a therapy chair for the Unit.”

“Some donations are already trickling in. If anyone wants to donate they can do so at any of the three DUP constituency offices - Thomas Street in Portadown; High Street in Lurgan; or Rathfriland Street in Banbridge.”
