Benefit convictions at Dungannon Court

TWO people have been convicted of benefit fraud at Dungannon Magistrates Court.

Caroline McBride, 50, of Ardnaskea Drive, Coalisland, claimed Income Support and Incapacity Benefit totalling £5,159 while failing to declare employment.

She was given a three month prison sentence suspended for 12 months and ordered to pay court costs of £52.

Kieran McKernan, aged 40, from Shanroy Park in Pomeroy, claimed Jobseekers Allowance and Rates Relief totalling £12,048 while failing to declare capital.

He was given a three month prison sentence suspended for 12 months and ordered to pay court costs of £46.

Both are also required to repay any outstanding money wrongfully obtained to the Social Security Agency.
