Bentra wood query

CLARIFICATION is needed over the current status of the Jubilee Woods project in Carrickfergus, local Councillors have claimed.

The ambitious initiative, which would see a number of Jubilee Woods planted across the UK, is being created by the Woodland Trust to commemorate the Queen’s 60 year reign.

A 60-acre site adjacent to the Bentra Golf Course in Whitehead, currently in conacre, was earmarked in August as a potential location for one of the woods.

“Jubilee Woods has been given a lot of publicity but it’s unclear where we stand with it,” Councillor David Hilditch MLA said at Monday night’s meeting of the local authority.
