The purpose for the journey was twofold - firstly two new members David Stewart and Neil Kirkpatrick received therir final reading which is tradition in the Apprentice Boys.

Secondly it was a great honour for the Benvarden men when President of the Parent Club Brother Maurice Devenney presented a Past President jewel and certificate to Bro. James McAuley, the last President of the Benvarden branch club.

The Benvarden Secretary Steven Phillips said: “James has been an excellent President over many years here in Benvarden and I think he truly deserves the accolades bestowed on him.”

Benvarden as a branch club continues to grow in strength and if any of the past members whose membership has lapsed wish to come back, they would be more than welcome.
