A team from Genesis, which runs a drop-in centre on Victoria Avenue, have been busy shooting a number of short videos centred around the town’s summer festival.

The footage forms part of the wider Genesis.TV project, which was established to provide practical training and skills for the centre’s young members.

Centre co-ordinator, Ricky Linton explained: “We have a group of young people who are training up in media skills and we thought that the festival would be a good focus.

“Genesis.TV was created specifically for the festival but we hope to keep it going to showcase other things like local bands.

“There are about 20 young people who have been involved in the project, with varying roles from planning, shooting the videos, sound, doing the interviewing and editing the footage.

“The team has also been working on a couple of promotional videos for Good Morning Carrickfergus and for the Duke of Edinburgh Award.”

Genesis, which has had a centre in the town for almost 15 years, is supported by the Big Lottery Fund.

“Our funding is due to run out in December so we’d like to hear from anyone who could help,” Ricky added.
