Better late than never!

MORE than a month after over 3,000 schoolchildren successfully broke a world record in Magherafelt, a local television station has said it will show the footage this evening.

Many of the children’s parents contacted the Mail to express their outrage that the event was not covered by regional media. Now UTV have said they will feature the achievement which saw more than 3,000 people form the Olympic rings shape at Meadowbank Sports Arena early last month.

The children, from a number of local schools, broke the record for “the greatest number of people in an Olympic ring formation”.

A spokeswoman for the station said, “Due to other news commitments, UTV was unable to bring viewers the story on June 27 featuring the Guinness World Records attempt.

“UTV will be showing Magherafelt’s successful world record bid during UTV Live at Six on Thursday July 19 between 6.00 – 6.30pm.”
