Jennifer Mullan was left distraught and deeply shocked after the bird flew at her as she walked through the park on Sunday. The bird cut her hand however a passing cyclist stopped and was able to scare the bird away before doing further damage.
Contacting the Ballymoney Times through Facebook, Jennifer urged visitors to the area to beware of the bird and keep children and pets well away.
In her message Jennifer said: “I was attacked by a pheasant in the park area of Armoy.
“Can you make other people aware of this pheasant please. I’ve posted on a few pages but I know you reach more people.
“This bird is in breeding season and extremely aggressive. I was lucky a cyclist came along and scared it away.”
Believed to be a Reeve’s pheasant, these hardy birds are often aggressive towards humans, animals and other pheasants during the breeding season.
