‘Big Curry’ raises money for Soldier’s Charity

THE commander of the Northern Ireland Garrison, Brigadier Rob Thomson, recently played host to ABF The Soldiers’ Charity’s Big Curry event at Lisburn’s Thiepval Barracks.

Soldiers and Civil Servants all gathered together and paid for a curry lunch to raise funds for Soldiers, ex-Soldiers and families who have fallen upon hard times.

Lagan Valley MLA Brenda Hale joined the throng in her capacity as the charity’s Northern Ireland Ambassador.

“It was a wonderful atmosphere and the curry has raised over a £1000,” she said.

David Forsey, Director of the charity in Northern Ireland was delighted. “No-one can make a curry as good as an army chef,” he said. “It’s a fantastic total and I’m really glad of all the support.”

The Soldiers’ Charity is encouraging clubs, groups and associations to hold local Curry events to raise money for Soldiers. More information can be found at www.bigcurry.org or by contacting 02892 678112.
