Big Lottery money for groups

Four groups in the Ballymoney and one in Moyle are sharing in a grants windfall from the Big Lottery Fund’s Awards for All programme.

The small grants programme is awarding grants totalling more than £25,000 to the local groups as part of a grants roll-out of £658,459 to 84 groups across Northern Ireland.

Awards for All offers community, voluntary and statutory groups the chance to apply for small grants of between £500 and £10,000 that will have a big impact on local communities and the lives of people most in need.

Glebe Rangers Football Club, which encourages local people to get involved in football to improve their health and fitness, has been awarded a grant of £10,000 to run a range of cultural and recreational activities for the community over the summer holidays.

Glebeside Women’s Club, which provides a forum for women to meet and discuss issues and topics which affect their lives, has also been awarded a grant of £3,811 to run a range of social activities for the wider community.

Dervock and District Community Association has also received a grant of £4,582 to run a range of fun family events, while Eden Accordion Band used £5,124 to organise a community event celebrating the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee and buy equipment and furniture for their hall.

Meanwhile in Moyle Bushmills Village Forum received £2,412. The forum, which works to bring local people together and improve their opportunities, will use the grant to produce a community newsletter for people living in the Bushmills area.
