Big Telly Group's Spring Chickens project launches Golden Gangs

PORTSTEWART-based Big Telly Theatre Company is delighted to announce its latest outreach project for older people - Golden Gangs.

A pioneering Inter generational project, involving 15 primary schools within Coleraine Borough Council and local retired people, it is part of their highly successful Spring Chickens programme which focuses on increasing creative expression and engagement within the older community.

Do you have spare time on your hands? Do you have a hobby, interest or specialist subject knowledge? Would you like to share your passion and knowledge with others in a volunteering capacity? Would you like to meet new people and make new friends?

If the answer is yes, then please take this wonderful opportunity to join a Big Telly Golden Gang near you.

You will be trained to be a workshop leader, where you can inspire and motivate a whole new generation about your specific interest, hobby or previous career, by volunteering at your local primary school after school club.

Golden Gangs is aimed at all older people. You do not have to have any previous qualifications or training of any sort to take part in this project. All we require is that you are passionate about your interest, and are keen to educate young people about it through volunteering.

Funded by The Atlantic Philanthropies and The Rayne Foundation, this training course which will commence shortly is free.

If you are interested in being a member of a Golden Gang at a primary school near you, or simply would like more information, Big Telly would be delighted to hear from you. Just contact them on 028 7083 1782, or, by e-mail [email protected]
