Big Tent Event is a resounding success

Held on the grounds of the village’s primary school, the three day event featured a family fun day, live music, interviews with sports personalities, thought provoking talks and testimonies, and fellowship with friends old and new.

Music on the opening evening of the event was by acclaimed band Inflame and Donaghcloney Elim’s own Gary Anderson. The speaker was former Northern Ireland footballer, Pastor Stuart Elliott. There were also interviews with Andrew Ferguson, from Lisburn Distillery F.C. and Waringstown cricketer, Glen Addicott from South Africa, which everyone enjoyed.

Saturday saw huge crowds from near and far turn out for the family fun day and the few heavy showers didn’t dampen spirits as families were treated to a whole host of free entertainment for all ages, including puppet shows, pony rides, face painting and bouncy castles.

There was a great atmosphere as families were wowed by five time Irish Downhill Mountain Bike champion, Colin ‘Rosco’ Ross who wheelied his way in to put on an exhilarating mountain bike stunt display. Another highlight was an exciting PSNI Dog handling display and a birds of prey display & handling team.

The fun day also featured the Ulster Military Vehicles Club and football training and competitions with Athletes in Action, a group of Christian sportsmen and women.

The fun day was followed by another evening service in the Big Tent, with music by Soulfire Worship and speaking were Ulster Rugby scrum-half Paul Marshall and Pastor Ken Davidson from Donaghcloney Elim Church.

The final evening of The Big Tent Event, featured music from Gospel harmony trio, Revelation as well as Donaghcloney Elim praise band. The congregation heard from Roy Walker, former manager of Ballymena United and Glenavon Football Club and Pastor Ken Davidson. There was also a special prayer and healing service.

Mr Davidson said, “We have had a wonderful weekend here in Donaghcloney.

“Thanks to everyone who attended the event and everyone who worked really hard to make The Big Tent Event a success. Everyone has really enjoyed the opportunity to come together and be part of such a wonderful outreach event.

“It has been wonderful that so many people’s lives have been touched and souls have been saved.”
