Big thank you letter to Breathe Easy Causeway for donation

Catherine Skeet, co-ordinator Home Diversion Team, Northern Health and Social Care Trust, visited the November meeting to present a thank you letter to the group for its donation which helped purchase a Vein Finder .

This is used to help people who find it difficult to give blood for a health check.

Catherine explained how the Home Medical Diversion Team was established 13 years ago with a staff of three.

It has now grown to four teams with a total staff of 44. This, she said, highlighted the important role played by the Division in treating people at home thus freeing up much needed hospital beds.

“It is our objective to keep close and careful eye on patients to make sure that they receive the best possible treatment and care for their illness.”

Catherine displayed the significance of the Vein Finder by allowing members to view their own vein structure.

It was an eye-opening experience. The November meeting started with a much appreciated 15-minute exercise programme under the direction of Ballymoney Fitness Instructor, Carol McClure, and concluded with a surprise but highly welcome singalong led by former nurse, Carmel McCaughryn, who accompanied Catherine Skeet on her Thank You visit. Breathe Easy Chairperson, Margaret Henry said: “We are delighted to know that our fund-raising efforts go to good use, especially at local level.” Margaret later led a wide ranging and probing debate on how best to give active support to the upcoming British Lung Foundation Campaign to focus attention on World COPD Day and “No Smoking” Day.
