Big turnout for farm theft event

Police were delighted with the turnout from the farming community who brought over 20 tractors and quads to the event, which was held at Draperstown Mart.

CESAR is a registration scheme giving peace of mind that farming equipment is protected by state of the art technology, it is a visual deterrent to thieves and aids identification making it easier to return to its owner if stolen and recovered.

CESAR has the added benefits of having no annual fees and reducing insurance costs. The system is approved and recommended by the Police Service of Northern Ireland and the Association of Chief Police Officers.

Cathy Doyle of Pirtek Belfast, suppliers of the CESAR system in Northern Ireland, said: ”Pirtek are delighted to help Magherafelt Police with this popular initiative. It was great to see such interest from local farmers and the day was fully booked.”

PSNI Crime Prevention Officer Gillian Dixon explained: “Farmers who install the Cesar IT System are making their machinery much less attractive to criminals and can also claim a significant discount on their insurance. Rural crime is a priority for Police and it is essential that the community report any incidents of suspicious activity to us immediately. We would ask that they note descriptions of persons and vehicle types, colours and registrations then call Police on 0845 600 8000 as soon as possible.”
