Bike goodies for pupils!

Mia Shearring (Nazareth House PS) was all smiles after receiving her prize of a new bike from Deputy Mayor, Alderman Gary Middleton, for her entry in a ‘Bike Week’ poster competition.
The winner (Mia Shearring of Nazareth House PS) and runners up of the Bike Week P6 poster competition were all smiles as they joined the Deputy Mayor, Alderman Gary Middleton to launch this years Bike Week festival. The runners up in the competition each received cyclist goodie bags. They were: Louise Harkin and Jadim Divin of St Therese’s, Aimee Mary Loughrey of Nazareth House and Radhika Gupta of Lisnagelvin PS and Sophie Read of Oakgrove PS.

Mr Middleton said: “All the designs are excellent and Mia’s poster is very well drawn with a happy cyclist enjoying a spin away from the traffic. It gets across the message of Bike Week and will get people thinking about cycling which is both great exercise and a convenient way of getting about.”

The sustainable transport charity, Sustrans and the Derry Access Forum have teamed up with local cycling clubs and community groups to deliver a range of exciting events as part of Bike Week for 2014.
