Road Policing Inspector John Millar explains: “Normally BikeSafe works with bikers in a relaxed environment, the idea being to raise awareness of key safety issues and to inspire a genuine desire to progress to accredited post-test training.

“BikeSafe NI is getting a makeover for 2016 with new branding and all-new enhanced Rider Workshops.

“The new workshops, held at a number of locations across Northern Ireland throughout the season, will consist of up to 2 hours classroom time followed by an observed ride-out with an advanced police motorcyclist or approved BikeSafe observer.

“Attending a BikeSafe workshop helps riders identify their own strengths and weaknesses and gives a taste of what safer motorcycling techniques can add to their overall ride.

“This year BikeSafe is continuing its presence at the Vauxhall North West 200.

“You can find us on the coast side of the paddock close to the starting line from Monday up to and including Race Day on Saturday, May 14th.

“The BikeSafe team will be on hand to offer general motorcycling advice and guidance and on non-race days you will have the opportunity of a short ride-out/BikeSafe “taster” session with an Advanced Road Policing motorcyclist.

“The taster session is not a test, nor is it training – it simply provides an assessment of a rider’s capabilities, and it is open to all, from the complete novice to the experienced motorcyclist.”
