Billy oversees Armed Forces Day tribute

LIEUTENANT Commander Billy Adams, who lives in Lisburn, was on duty at Carrickfergus Castle this week, over-seeing some early rehearsals for the town’s forthcoming celebrations to mark Armed Forces Day on Saturday June 25.

The historic garrison town of Carrickfergus will be the focus of Northern Ireland’s regional contribution to a country-wide programme designed to give the nation the opportunity to show its support for the men and women who make up the Armed Forces community, including Service families, cadets, veterans and recruits.

A fascinating feast of events and activities is already confirmed for Carrick and the final programme will see the skies, sea and land in full use, giving families a mega day day out. That programme will include a contribution by the Royal Navy and the involvement of members of the Royal Naval Reserve from HMS Hibernia, located within Thiepval Barracks in Lisburn.

Carrick’s iconic Norman castle will not only form a dramatic backdrop for the military pageantry, but will also be welcoming the thousands of friendly invaders expected to attend the day of events and pageantry.
