Bin collections suspended
DUE to the severe wintry weather conditions Newtownabbey Borough Council suspended the majority of its scheduled bin collection services on Wednesday (March 27).
The local authority took the decision so that more council staff and equipment could be made available to help DRD Roads Service clear roads throughout the borough.
The council’s Waste Management Manager, Jim Gurney commented: “I would like to assure customers that every effort will be made to catch up (with refuse collections) and thank them for their patience. Hopefully services will be operating as normal as soon as possible. Our staff are making huge efforts and have been making extra early starts to get the work done.”
