Bin thrown through Fountain window in sectarian hate crime

A bin was thrown through the window of a house in the Fountain in what's being treated as a sectarian hate crime at the weekend.

Police in Londonderry are investigating the incident of criminal damage at a house in Aubrey Street in the early hours of Sunday, February 28.

Inspector Greg Smyth said: “A report was received at around 1.45am that a group of people were attacking the house in what is being treated as a sectarian motivated hate crime, leaving a window smashed when a bin was thrown at it.

“There were no reports of any injuries to the five occupants of the house and enquiries into the incident are ongoing.

“I would ask anyone with any information about this incident to contact police at Strand Road on 101 or the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.”
