The remark was made by a lawyer for Christopher Bennett, 24, from Church Street in Magherafelt.

Bennett was returned for trial on a charge of robbing a female of £500 on December 4, 2009.

The charge relates to an alleged incident at a chip shop on the Mullinahoe Road, Ardboe, on this date.

Making an application for legal aid for two members of counsel in the case, Bennett’s lawyer told the court: “This case has the potential to get much more serious.”

Rejecting that request, Deputy District Judge, Paul Conway, said: “I do not think it is sufficient for two counsel but if the danger becomes a definite possibility, then a High Court judge can deal with that question.” Bennett was remanded on bail until January 22.
