Black Saturday in Portstewart

Police are advising of traffic arrangements in Portstewart this ,Saturday August 29, for the Royal Black Institution’s “Last Saturday” parade.

Around 32 preceptories and bands are expected to gather for the parade.

About 5,000 spectators are expected.

They will assemble at Strand Road and the parade at noon will take them along The Diamond, Promenade, Harbour Road, Portmore Road, Station Road, Mill Road, and Old Coach Road to the demonstration field at the Warren Recreation Grounds.

The parade will return around 3.30pm along Old Coach Road, Heatherlea Avenue, Station Road, Portmore Road, Harbour Road, Promenade, The Diamond to Strand Road.

Traffic will not be permitted onto the route while the parade is on the move.

Motorists are advised to look out for parking restrictions that may be in force for the event, and to follow the directions of marshals or police officers.

Police are also advising that smaller ‘feeder’ parades are likely to take place in many towns and villages in the morning and evening.
