Black Saturday traffic detail

THE PSNI has issued the following information with regard to the Black Saturday demonstrations taking place in Londonderry on Saturday.

In the morning there will be some traffic disruption while the Royal Black Preceptory Parade makes its way from the Waterside to the Cityside in the morning from 8.30am to 9am. There will be a return parade in the late afternoon.

Black Saturday demonstration

The Royal Black Preceptory Parade will take place in Londonderry on Saturday 25th August assembling at Glendermott Road around 8am. The parade will commence at 8.30am along the following route: Glendermott Road, Clooney Terrace, Spencer Road, Craigavon Bridge, Carlisle Road, Ferryquay Street, Diamond, Bishop Street, Palace Street, Society Street.

Band members will also assemble from 8.15am at Society Street and will parade the following route commencing at 9am: Society Street, Bishop Street, Diamond, Ferryquay Street, Carlisle Road, Craigavon Bridge, Spencer Road, Clooney Terrace, Glendermott Road, Bond Street and into May Street, where they will board buses to travel to the main demonstration in Portrush.

Return Parade

The Return parade is expected to commence at 6pm and parade to Society Street via: Bond Street, Glendermott Road, Clooney Terrace, Spencer Road, Craigavon Bridge, Carlisle Road, Ferryquay Street, Diamond, Bishop Street, Palace Street where they will then disperse.

Some band members will also parade as far as Clooney Terrace and turn into Union Street and back down Glendermott Road for dispersal.

Traffic diversions will be in place in various points around the city centre and motorists may experience some delays.
