Blooming good courses at NWRC

THERE are some blooming good courses at North West Regional College for those wanting to get their gardens in order in 2012.

The College is offering two new hobby gardening courses, which will be starting soon. Learning from experts including BBC Radio Foyle’s resident gardener Gareth Austin, participants on the programmes will be introduced to ways to make the most of what’s in season, from strawberries and raspberries for making jam, to choosing the best flowers to bring your garden to life.

The 12-week hobby garden design course will also help students to map out a plan for their own plots, from small patches to bigger spaces, while the 10 week horticulture programme will focus on planting and caring for the delights of the current season.

Programmes start at just £25, and reduced fees are also available for those on certain benefits. For more details please contact the College on 028 7127 6222.

The gardening courses are just two of the programmes due to start soon, included in the new Short Course Guide for 2012.

Other options include free cookery classes and workshops for 12 to 18 year olds, pottery, guitar, computing and courses for career development in Early Years, Care & Health & accounts. For details of all the programmes visit www.nwrc.ac.uk/shortcourses12.
