Blooming Londonderry recognised

THE city’s floral displays were recognised at the RHS Britain in Bloom 2011 awards at the weekend at which Londonderry secured the Small City category award at the prestigious finals.

Mayor Alderman Maurice Devenney said it was a tremendous coup for the city and was reflective of the hard work carried out by the Council and its strategic partners and local businesses in making the city colourful and welcoming.

Danny McCartney, Grounds Maintenance and Cemeteries Manager for Derry City Council said: “A lot of hard work and effort has gone into this year’s campaign and we have made considerable progress in improving on how the city is presented. Our floral displays across the city have been really well received and the feedback we have been getting from the public has been very positive.”
