Blooming marvellous!

GARDENERS throughout Coleraine are celebrating after claiming the top prize in the Town category at the Translink Ulster in Bloom Competition.

The area also enjoyed further success, with the Water Margin Restaurant and Castlerock Caravan Park receiving Special Awards for Outstanding Presentation, while Castlerock Rail Halt came third in the Community Rail Halt Award within the Floral Station Category.

Speaking at the results announcement ceremony at Belfast Castle, Angela Coffey, board member, NITHC/Translink, said: “I’d like to congratulate all those involved in Coleraine’s and Castlerock’s beautiful arrangements for their success, especially as the standard of entries in this year’s competition was exceptionally high.

“We hope such impressive displays will encourage even more people to get involved in Ulster in Bloom next year and to visit our towns, cities and villages to enjoy the beautiful flowers and plants on show.

Councillor Freda Donnelly, Northern Ireland Local Government Association, said: “My congratulations to all the finalists and a big thank you to the sponsors, the judges, the Councils and all those who make the Translink Ulster in Bloom competition what it is today.”

The Translink Ulster in Bloom Competition is organised by the Northern Ireland Local Government Association with the support of the Northern Ireland Tourist Board.
