Blooming success for City

The Mayor, Martin Reilly, congratulated the Derry City Council after it’s latest Ulster in Bloom success.

The City won the ‘City Category’ for the sixth year running.

“This is another great news story for Derry and I am absolutely delighted that the city has once again come out on top as it represents Northern Ireland in the Britain In Bloom finals in October, while earlier this year the Conservation Volunteers, facilitated by Pride In Our City team, took Silver in the Team Challenge at Garden Show Ireland.

“The feedback from residents, businesses and visitors to the city regarding our floral displays and the general upkeep of the city is very positive with everyone commenting on how well the city looks. A big thank you must be extended to the Council’s grounds maintenance and cleansing staff for their continued efforts – it has paid off,” he said.

Danny McCartney, grounds maintenance and cemeteries manager said he was delighted at the latest accolade.
