Blooming success for Lisburn

LISBURN City Council was delighted to claim the Crystal Award for the Hillsborough Oyster Festival Bed at the 2012 Translink Ulster in Bloom competition.

The Chairman of the Council’s Environmental Services Committee, Councillor Andrew Ewing, said: “The Council is very pleased with this award and I would like to pay tribute to our team of gardeners at Lisburn City Council who work so diligently to create the magnificent floral displays we see all round the City of Lisburn.

“We are waiting to see if Hillsborough Village will achieve an award in the Britain in Bloom awards which will be announced in October, the village being one of only six finalists in its category, out of over 1,000 entries to the awards. The judging for this competition was held earlier in the summer and the village was looking absolutely wonderful,” he concluded.
