Blue Bins now take glass bottles and jars

HOUSEHOLDERS in Londonderry can now dispose of glass packaging (bottles and jars), in their blue bins thanks to the introduction of a new processing system introduced by one of Derry City Council’s recycling service providers, Glassdon Recycling.

Only glass packaging items such as glass bottles and jars can be disposed of in the bins with items such as Pyrex and kitchenware deemed not suitable.

The following items are acceptable for recycling in blue bins - Glass bottles packaging and jars; paper - Newspaper, magazines, flyers, junk mail, envelopes (no shredded paper or windows from envelopes); Cardboard / Light Card: All cardboard boxes and card packaging including cereal boxes, kitchen / toilet rolls ends etc ; Cans and Tins: Food and drinks cans,; Aerosols: Empty hair spray, air fresheners, body sprays etc ; Plastic Bottles: Plastic milk, juice and soft drink, washing - up liquids, shampoos, cleaning bottles etcefood waste, nappies, garden waste, liquids, ceramics (cups, saucers, plates etc), or Pyrex (oven dishes, glass microwave trays) into the Blue Bin!
