BNP don't speak for East Derry: Dallat

The BNP has posted a photograph of a Presbyterian Church in Articlave on their website claiming they have received a lot of support in the village.

The website also quotes MP Gregory Campbell at length on the subject of capital punishment.

East Derry SDLP Assembly Member John Dallat has described the webpage as disgusting, sacrilegious and deeply offensive to the congregation of that church.

He said: “The BNP has tried time and time again to spew their racism in the Coleraine area and have been rejected on every occasion. Linking a church where the word of God is preached is stooping to a new level if that is possible for them.

“The last thing this area needs if the BNP and their potential for war-mongering and blind hatred for anyone who comes from another part of the world.”

Mr Dallat added: “Time and time again I get requests from people in the Articlave asking that sectarian painting be removed and as recently as last week a caller told me that if the authorities continued to ignore the symbols of division on the kerbstones and lamp posts he would personally take responsibility for removing them.

“It is no coincidence that the BNP target areas where there is graffiti and other messages of division and I am calling again for agreement that progress is made on making Articlave the attractive village it could be.

“In those circumstances perhaps the BNP would pack their bags in the full knowledge that they are not wanted.”
