‘Boarded-up’ building fears

BALLYMONEY councillors have called for an office meeting with planners who are of the opinion to refuse approval for the proposed sub-division of a car showroom to form two retail units at Model School Road in the town.

Maurice Scott is seeking the approval for the former premises of Philip Peterson Car Showroom.

Mayor, Cllr Bill Kennedy (Ulster Unionist), asked for the office meeting and he said he did not know how planners could say the development would have an adverse impact on the vitality of Ballymoney town centre as he considered the area as part of the town centre.

If the development does not get the go-ahead, he said there is a risk of having another boarded-up building in the town.
