James Scott, 19, was chosen to represent Northern Ireland Boys’ Brigade at the reception where the Boys’ Brigade presented a message of greeting to the Queen, Patron of the BB, on the occasion of her Diamond Jubilee.

Her Majesty, in turn provided a message of reply, which will travel to every battalion of the Boys’ Brigade across the United Kingdom and Ireland.

James, a second year student studying Food Science at Queen’s University said he was honoured to be selected.

“It was very nice and relaxed. There was an official introduction with the Queen and then she shook our hands and said hello and asked us all where we were from before the presentation.

“It really was a surreal experience.”
