Body of young woman found near Benevenagh cliffs

Police say they are not treating as suspicious the death of a young woman, whose body was found at Downhill Beach near the cliffs of Benevenagh. Police located a vehicle, a blue Peugeot, belonging to 30-year-old Kelly McGarvey at a car park close to Mussenden Temple.

The find sparked a land and sea search yesterday morning involving the Community Rescue Service, Coastguard and police helicopter. The woman’s body was found close to nearby rocks.

Tributes poured in on social media site Facebook as news broke of the tragedy. One relative, from Limavady, wrote: “Rest in Peace my beautiful cousin words cannot describe the heartache we’re all feeling... Forever in my thoughts. Love you xxxx.”
