Bombers and hoaxers urged to ‘wise up’

A SPATE of security alerts in Larne recently has put extra strain on police resources and caused serious tension in the community, a local councillor has claimed.

The latest incident was on Saturday, when a suspicious object was discovered at the back gate of a house at Drumahoe Gardens, Millbrook, at 11am. Police described the object as “a crude attempt at an incendiary device”.

An Army explosives team was sent to the scene and the object was taken away for examination. The alert ended at about 2.30pm.

TUV councillor Jack McKee said the series of incidents has served to damage Larne’s reputation and hinder investment in the town.
