Bone cancer charity boosted by Carrickfergus bunfest

Carrickfergus College’s charities committee held a Christmas bake sale before the holiday and raised £800 for Myeloma UK, the school’s chosen charity for the year.

Paying tribute to all who had made the fundraiser a success, the college said in a statement: “A big thank you must go out to the school’s HE department – they outdid themselves by making hundreds of buns over the week.

“A special mention should also go to the pupils of the charity committee who were such a help in advertising the bun sale and selling during their break and lunchtimes.

“It was all possible through the generosity of all the pupils and staff who bought buns.”

Registered as a charity in 1997, Myeloma UK is helping patients live longer and with a better quality of life by accelerating the discovery and development and access to new treatments.

It also assists patients and their families cope with everything a diagnosis of myeloma brings.

The school added: “The charity receives no government funding and relies on voluntary donations and fundraising activities - the money raised by Carrick College will go a long way.”
