Bonner on verge of joining Shiels at Killies

DERRY City defender Caoimhín Bonner looks set to follow in the footsteps of former Candystripe Conor Sammon and join County Londonderry supremo Kenny Shiels’ charges Kilmarnock.

Bonner was a trialist with the Killies last year and it’s understood he may be set to sign a contract with the Scottish Premier League (SPL) side.

The out-of-contract defender - a fixture of Derry City’s reserves and under age sides over recent seasons - is on the verge of signing for the Killies.

Bonner played an U20 game against the Scottish side last summer and was subsequently invited to Rugby Park for a trial in November.

Shiels meanwhile will be familiar with Bonner from his time as an Irish Football Association (IFA) youth coach in the North West.
