Book celebrates Curryfree Lodge Centenary

A BOOK marking the Centenary of the formation of Curryfree Glen True Blues LOL 1060 will be launched on Friday night at a special anniversary dinner.

Written by Colin Campbell, the book has taken over two years to write and will feature black and white photographs charting the early history of the Lodge, as well as colour photos of current and past members, and a written history of the Lodge.

“I was asked by Ivan Dougherty and Maurice McKeegan from the Lodge to collate this book for them in time for their anniversary dinner, next Friday, and was a bit nervous about taking on such a huge project as it is the first book I have written and it was important to me to accurately portray the history of the Lodge,” said Colin, who is secretary of neighbouring Lodge Newbuildings Victoria LOL 1087.

“I made an appeal for information and memorabilia through the press and at various Lodge gatherings, and over time the pictues and information came in,” he said, adding: “I particularly want to thank the members of the Rossborough family, from Londonderry, whose father, Robert, was WM for 36 years in Curryfree, for their time and help in bringing this project together.”

The book is 5 and will be available from Curryfree Lodge secretary, Maurice McKeegan, and there are plans to sell the book on Friday night next, May 28 at the anniversary dinner in The Belfray Country Inn.
