Book-lovers urged to try Carnlough’s new ‘Read and Go’ service

The improvement works are set to double the size of the facility, allow for the provision of public access computers offering free internet access, a study area, space to display local history material and many more books.

The refurbishment project is being carried Larne Borough Council, which owns the building, in partnership with Libraries NI.

The new-look library is due to open in early March 2015. In the meantime, a collection of books is now housed in the Carnlough Communication Association premises, opposite the library.

A spokeswoman for Libraries NI said: “Our valued customers can simply borrow a book of their choice and return it when they have finished. The collection contains fiction and factual books for both adults and children. The collection will be refreshed each month.

“If customers have any books which they need to return, please can they do so by leaving them in the office of the Carnlough Community Association office.”

The service is open from Monday to Friday, 11am – 1pm, and is closed on Thursday.

Libraries NI will also be providing a mobile library service which will visit the area on a regular basis.
