Booking now open for Portrush Music Society’s production of 42nd Street

42nd Street tells the story of an unknown, inexperienced chorus girl being discovered and thrown into the lead role of a new Broadway musical hours before opening night.

With memorable musical numbers from the choral section such as We’re In The Money, Lullaby of Broadway and 42nd Street along with the energetic tap dance troupe, this is a musical you can’t afford to miss.

The award-winning Portrush Music Society brings 42nd Street to the Riverside Theatre in Coleraine from Saturday, April 30, to Saturday, May 7.

Some of the Triangle area’s finest talent has been cast in the production - none more so than the stunning talent that is Elizabeth Lane in the lead role of Peggy Sawyer - the chorus girl who becomes an overnight star.

Fresh from fantastic reviews for her lead role in the Millennium Forum’s production of Chess, Elizabeth will dazzle audiences with her acting, singing and dancing talent.

She is joined on stage by Leroy Dempster as Billy Lawlor. Leroy will be well known to local audiences from this performances with Coleraine’s Provincial Players in their annual pantomime and as a member of boy band Upfront.

Paul Loan, in his first appearance with Portrush Music Society, takes on the central role of the Broadway producer Julian Marsh whose reputation hangs in the balance with the show.

Una Culkin plays the diva Dorothy Brock who, although past her best, has been cast in the lead role of the musical thanks to her sugar daddy Abner Dillon, aka Robert Blair.

Also on stage are seasoned performers such as Elaine Morrison, Cathy McColgan, Claire Tannahill, Karen Todd, Liz Bottomley, Sandra Sweetman, Donal Macauley, Gerald McQuilken and William Thompson.
