BOOST TOO LATE FOR BUSINESSES

IN the same week as a multi-million pound investment was announced for Lurgan, a number of town centre businesses have been forced to close.

The International Bar, Bennett’s photography shop and Models and More are among those businesses bringing down the shutters.

Despite having recently undergone a major renovation, The International Bar in Castle Lane called time this week.

Bennett’s photography shop in High Street, which had more recently been trading under the name of Image Solutions, could close as early as the end of this week. Its sister stores in Portadown, Armagh, Omagh and Cookstown will remain open.

Models and More, a store for specialist toy collectors, are advertising a half price closing down sale and will cease trading today (Thursday).

On Wednesday it was announced by the Department of Social Development that Lurgan’s public realm works would be extended into High Street and a new scheme entitled RESTORE would be introduced to revitalise the town.
