Boosts Ballycastle

A WELL attended meeting of Ballycastle Chamber of Commerce has heard that since the group was reformed they have cultivated a valuable partnership with many organisations but especially Moyle Council.

Moyle Council Chairperson, Cllr Cara McShane, was present at the meeting and was the bearer of good news when she was able to reveal that the domestic rates for Moyle came in with a zero per cent change.

And she told how new public toilets will be established at Market Street and extra money has been set aside for Christmas lights in the town.

Chamber Chairperson Paul Cochrane, of PC Electrics on Ann Street, told the Times: "There were other capital projects put forward and Cllr McShane also talked about the importance of the Chamber and how, together, we are trying to make a difference.

"Margaret Craig of Moyle District Council gave a brief talk on upcoming projects and local police inspector Bryan Hume gave a detailed update of how he and his officers are combating antisocial behaviour.

"There was a very good turn out again and many topics were covered

"I hope to gather points talked about, and notes taken from the info slips, for the AGM next month.

"We have covered a lot of ground last year. The support from Cllr McShane, Margaret Craig and Inspector Hume and others has been very welcome, and has helped get us this far.

"This will be another hard trading year but from the chat at the meeting everyone there knows the task in front of us and now see that working together can help us all. It is very important that we build on our good work," said Mr Cochrane.
