They contain green yolks (green goo) instead of the usual yellow and also feature green packaging.

One local outlet starring the new egg is The Candy Store on Church Street.

Shop owner Mark Steen explained: "They're goin great! The item does not sell in the usual ones and twos, they're going in threes and fours".

The sweet sells at 60p, roughly the same price as the original "Creme Egg".

Mark Steen admitted to trying out the product the first day it arrived adding: "They taste ‘egg’sactly the same although many customers assume the egg has a mint flavour.

People are not put off by the green ooze, infact I think the colour seems to be the attraction!”

One local Screme Egg lover concluded: "I shelled out for five of these eggs the other day, I think the idea is cracking!

“We normally only get Creme Eggs for Easter but we now can get them for Halloween. Maybe Cadbury will do a Christmas variety and then we can have them all year round."
