Boy chased from Poleglass house and couple assaulted

A gang burst into a house in Poleglass chased a schoolboy and then assaulted a couple at the same house at the weekend.

Detectives in Lisburn are appealing for information following what they have described as an aggravated type burglary in the Pembroke Loop Road area of West Belfast on Sunday afternoon, July 21.

At approximately 1.10pm it was reported that one male with a hurley stick and three females forced their way in to a house. The gang then assaulted a 33-year-old female and a 39-year-old male.

Neither sustained any serious injuries in the attack.

A 14 year old boy who was in the house at the time but was not injured. The boy was later chased by the male.

Three females aged 34, 32 and 16 were arrested a short time later and, following interview, have been released on police bail pending further enquiries.

Police would ask anyone who witnessed the incident or anyone with any information to contact them at Lisburn CID on 0845 600 8000.

Councillor Brian Heading urged people in the area to give information to the police to help catch those who carried out the attack.

“This is an awful incident no matter what the circumstances,” he said.

“It is important that if anyone has information they must contact the police in order for these people to be caught. “We cannot allow this type of behaviour to happen in the community.

“This is a disgrace that this has been carried out in broad daylight. In order to bring these people to justice, the police need help from the public.

“Anyone carrying out this assault need to think what sort of example they are they sending out to the community.”
