'Boy racers' battle set to commence

THE battle against 'boy racers' is due to start in earnest in Ballycastle.

An option being considered by Moyle Council is 35,000 being spent at Ballycastle Harbour Car Park to reduce anti-social activities including driving behaviour by using overhead barriers and raised flowerbeds.

Moyle councillors were told the preferred option will now be issued for public consultation.

Of the suggested 35,000 spend, 5,000 would go on five overhead barriers with another 5,250 going to ramps and 3,000 on white lines and road markings.

11,000 will be directed to raised flower beds with benches and picnic tables costing 7,500. Litter bins will cost 3,300.

Meanwhile, new fencing at Quay Road Playing Fields in Ballycastle will cost over 10,000.
