Boyle to playthe Forum

SCOTTISH controversialist Frankie Boyle is gearing up to visit the hometown of Big Brother star Conor McIntyre who he recently subjected to an abusive message on social media site Twitter.

Mr Boyle tweeted when the Londonderry man was taking part in the Channel 5 show: “Surely Derry people from both sides of the religious divide would like to see punishment beatings brought back for this c**t.”

Local MLA Mark H. Durkan said at the time that while his comments were highly inappropriate, it would be advisable not to take anything he says too seriously.

He said: “Well, his comments display a real lack of understanding about the seriousness of punishment beatings and the impact that they can have on families here.”

Now Mr Boyle is bringing his ‘The Last Days of Sodom’ show to Londonderry’s Millennium Forum at the end of October.

Due to extra demand Mr Boyle will perform stand-up at the city centre venue on Tuesday, October 30, and Thursday, November 1.

The promotional blurb for the show is typically attention seeking: “Frankie Boyle has been pilloried, misrepresented and demonised. And for what?

“For Telling It Like It Is.

“Now he will attempt a final tour, to heal Britain’s fools. To support its rioters. To offer the inchoate laughter of despair to a culture in freefall. These are The Last Days of Sodom.”
