Braid District host Covenant Fun Day

TO mark the anniversary of the Ulster Covenant and the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee, Braid District Orangemen are hosting a family fun day on Saturday, September 15.

The day has been not only organised to celebrate these events but to promote the institution in the area and also to say thanks to the area for their support over the years.

Braid Wor Master Des Gray stated: “We have always had great support from the people of the area, so we are happy to organise this day as a way of showing our commitment to the area”.

The event itself starts on Friday evening with a bowling competition in St. Patrick’s Church Hall. Then the fun day on Saturday begins with a fancy dress parade from the Community Centre to a field on the Rathkeel Road. This procession will take place at 2pm and will be led by the Broughshane District Pipe Band. Once the procession reaches the field there will be an array of activities to keep children and adults occupied from bouncy castle to tug of war. The Grand Lodge of Ireland will have its Education Trailer in the field for people to learn more about the Order and its activities.

All children will receive a prize for their participation, so remember to get along to the field for a fabulous fun day.

In the afternoon in the village a Lambeg drumming competition will be held. With excellent prize money.

it is sure to attract drummers from all over the county.
